Women in Music Workplace Initiative

Help us name the WIM Best Places to Work!

Introducing: WIM Best Places to Work

One of the best ways we can support women in the music industry, and beyond, is to raise the standards of workplace culture. The WIM Best Places to Work survey will go a long way to helping that mission by:

Celebrating companies that create and sustain inclusive workplace cultures

Helping women evaluate and choose a workplace that will help them thrive

Finding solutions we can all work towards collectively to improve our lives and industry

We’re partnering with InHerSight to gather data that measures various aspects of workplace culture and the career/work/life priorities that impact women. Based on your answers, WIM will publish the “WIM Best Places to Work” lists to act as a benchmark to help inform your career decisions and to see what areas need a spotlight, so we can keep raising standards across the industry.

WIM Best Places to Work

Our Ask to You

Please join us in our effort to make the music industry a great workplace for women.

In the spirit of transparency, we ask that you please answer the survey as honestly as possible! If you’re a sole proprietor with one part-time employee and can’t yet provide parental leave or other benefits, don’t feel bad reporting your parental leave policy with only one star rating. This survey is simply collecting data on where we are as an industry, and what we can all learn and do together to fill in gaps to support and advance diverse talent in a business where we all represent varied career paths — from independent artist to freelance marketer to C-suite executives.

Why This Survey Matters

We know how critical supporting women is to the music industry’s current and future success as a business:

Research shows that company profits and share performance can be close to 50% higher when women are well represented at the top.

(McKinsey)

Gender diverse companies are more productive, innovative, and attractive to top talent

(Harvard Business Review)

73% of women say that, when applying to companies, it’s important that they can easily find information about how a company supports women employees.

(InHerSight)

We also know how important it is to meet talent from underrepresented backgrounds where they are and talk about what’s important to them, and to do both in a safe, trusted, and anonymous environment like the one InHerSight has created

Our goal with the WIM Workplace Initiative is to highlight some of what’s working and try to find solutions, together, in areas that can be improved.

We can’t wait to shape the future of music together!
